Mumbai: Keralite cricketer Minnu Mani has been appointed as the captain of the Indian A team for the upcoming T20 series against England. This marks a significant milestone, as Minnu becomes the first female player from Kerala to lead Bharat on the international stage. She is also the sole Malayali player in the squad for the series against England.
The T20 matches are scheduled to take place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on December 29th, 1st, and 3rd. The Indian A team includes three players who have previously represented the senior team, with Minnu joined by Kanika Ahuja and Monika Patel.
Hailing from Wayanad, Minnu Mani made her debut in the Indian jersey during the T20 series against Bangladesh. Her impressive performance in the series, in which she secured five wickets, has now earned her the captaincy role. Minnu was also a key contributor to the Indian team’s gold medal win in the Asian Games.
The complete roster for the Indian A team includes Minnu Mani, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry (WK), and Shreyanka Patil. Gongadi Trisha, Vrinda Dinesh, Gnananada Divya, Arushi Goel, Disha Kasat, Rashi Kanojiya, Mannat Kashyap, Anusha Bareddy, Monica Patel, Kashvee Gautham, Jintimani Kalita, and Prakashika Naik.
