Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will experience intensified rainfall over the next five days as a cyclonic circulation looms over southern Sri Lanka. Residents can expect moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, during this period. The India Meteorological Department has issued a cautionary notice, indicating the potential formation of a low-pressure extending from the South East Arabian Sea to North Maharashtra.
Additionally, there is a warning of heavy rain in isolated places tomorrow and the following day. The Meteorological Department also highlight the possibility of a cyclonic storm evolving from a whirlwind forming in the South Andaman Sea.
A low-pressure system is situated in the southeast Bay of Bengal and is predicted to move in a west-northwest direction, and it is likely to intensify into a depression by the 30th of this month. Subsequently, the low pressure is expected to gain strength, transforming into a cyclonic storm within the next 48 hours.
Strong sea attack caused damage to boats overnight, particularly to those engaged in fishing in the coastal areas of Kerala. Waves struck on tied boats after a night of fishing, resulting in the complete damage of two vessels. Approximately 10 boats, along with nets and other equipment, have suffered damage.
