Thiruvananthapuram: A complaint has emerged claiming that bribery was asked for to secure first and second places in the sub-district arts festival. The complaint states that bribery was asked for selection in the district arts festival. The complaint was filed by a dance teacher. According to the complaint, Vishnu, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram and a dance teacher, along with Sarath, a native of Kollam working as a make-up artist, were demanding money.
The complaint states that agents manipulate the appointment of judges during sub-district arts festivals. It was said that Sarath arranged judges by paying an amount of 2.5 lakh rupees. He had acquired money for this by extorting money from students. The teacher claims that demands for bribes up to ₹50,000 were made for securing the first and second positions in the Kerala Natanam and Mohiniyattam categories.
Several competition winners achieved their positions through illegal means like monetary transactions. Janam TV has obtained an audio recording of them demanding money.
