Idukki: In light of the upcoming by-elections in Idukki, the district collector has proclaimed a local holiday on December 12 for the respective wards. The by-elections are scheduled for Ward 10 of Udumbanchola Panchayat and seventh ward of Karimkunnam Gram Panchayat.

The collector’s directive specifies that all government and educational institutions within these wards where the elections are taking place will remain closed on the respective days. Additionally, educational institutes serving as polling booths will also be shuttered on the eve of polling day.

To maintain a conducive environment for the electoral process, the order outlines the closure of all liquor and beverage shops in the specified wards from 6 p.m. on December 10 until December 13. These periods will be observed as dry days, ensuring a controlled and peaceful atmosphere during the by-elections.
