Malappuram: Customs officials have uncovered a major gold smuggling operation at Karipur International Airport, Malappuram, resulting in the seizure of gold worth Rs 1.53 crore in three cases. The gold was discovered during routine inspections conducted by customs authorities, leading to the arrest of three individuals involved in the smuggling attempt.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Anwar Sadat from Tavanur, Shahir Shahifan from Kottakal, and Muhammad Fazil from Wayanad. Customs officials revealed that the gold, valued at Rs 1.53 crore, was concealed in the form of capsules and hidden within the bodies of the accused. The arrested individuals are now in custody, and customs authorities have initiated further actions in connection with the cases.
