Thiruvananthapuram: The government plans to raise the prices of subsidized goods sold through Supplyco by up to 25 percent. This decision was made by the expert committee appointed by the government to revise the prices. Currently, there is a subsidy on 13 products.
Last month, the Left Front was granted permission to increase the prices. Despite the government’s proposal to potentially increase the number of subsidized products to 16, the committee has not taken a positive stance on this matter. Another recommendation put forward by the committee was for the government to invest more and establish a network of super bazaars to ensure the survival of Supplyco. The expert committee, chaired by Planning Board member Dr. K Ravi Raman, is set to submit its report this week.
