KOLLAM: Seva Bharathi unit from Kerala has embarked on a rescue mission to aid the flood-affected areas of Tamil Nadu. A team from Karunagappally will reach today afternoon to the flooded areas of Tirunelveli district.
Over the past two days, heavy rainfall has affected certain areas of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Tenkasi districts in Tamil Nadu. Reports indicate severe impact on some villages in Tirunelveli. The authorities have evacuated more than 7,500 people from these flood-affected regions due to the intense rains.
The Indian Navy and Air Force have deployed five helicopters to assist in rescue missions and provide essential services in the affected areas. Additionally, alongside the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams, fifteen State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are actively involved in the ongoing rescue operations.
In response to this situation, a Seva Bharathi team from Karunagappally, Kollam district, is expected to arrive this afternoon equipped with boats, food, and medicine for the rescue mission.
