Thiruvananthapuram: Despite economic crisis, Prof. KV Thomas, the special representative of Kerala in Delhi, has been awarded an honorarium of Rs. 12.5 lakh by the government. The official order was issued, allocating funds that include the salaries of four additional staff members, thereby relaxing the existing treasury restrictions. Earlier, the honorarium was approved only until the month of June, but the remaining amount has now been sanctioned through this recent order.
The government, adhering to its earlier decision, fixed an honorarium of Rs. 1 lakh per month for KV Thomas. Additionally, three staff members and a driver have been appointed in Delhi to assist him. KV Thomas had expressed his refusal to accept a salary, prompting the government to grant him the honorarium instead. This move comes in the wake of past controversies surrounding the honorarium provided to KV Thomas.
