Kollam: A court has sentenced nine persons to three years imprisonment for attacking a woman and her son’s friend in the name of moral policing. The victims were beaten up and tied to a coconut tree. The court convicted nine individuals in the case, including Sudheer, Riyad, Irshad, Sirajuddin, Anas, Shafi, Jiju, Safir, and Sinu. The verdict was announced by the Kadakkal, Kollam 1st Class Magistrate.
The verdict has been delivered regarding the incident that occurred six years ago in June 2017. Following the forceful entry of assailants in to the woman’s house, they assaulted her and her son’s friend, and subsequently tied them to a coconut tree.
The accused brutally assaulted the housewife. As per the complaint, they forcibly dragged her by her hair and recorded the incident on their mobile phone. The prosecution presented the mobile phone as evidence in court, and the court examined 36 witnesses in the case.
