Malappuram: Sub-Inspector N Sreejith of Perumpadappu Police Station in Malappuram has been suspended after being found to have connections with a gold smuggling gang. The suspension follows an order from the Thrissur range Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
Malappuram Superintendent of Police (SP) had submitted a report indicating the SI’s involvement with the gold-smuggling gang. The departmental action is in the background of this report. The investigative team had received evidence suggesting the SI’s participation in financial transactions with gold-smuggling groups. The investigation also revealed that SI Sreejith is the one who leaked information to these smuggling networks.
