Thiruvananthapuram: Christmas festivities took a violent turn once again at Manaveeyam Veedhi, the state’s first nightlife hub. A clash ensued between youths gathered for the celebrations and the police, resulting in injuries to police personnel, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI). The Museum police took four individuals into custody in connection with the incident.
This incident marks the latest in a series of clashes since the declaration of Manaveeyam Veedhi as a nightlife hub. Initially, stringent restrictions were imposed in response to such conflicts. However, just recently, these restrictions were lifted, allowing Manaveeyam Veedhi to reopen for nightlife activities until 5 am. However, the respite was short-lived, as conflicts erupted once again after only a few days.
