Thiruvananthapuram: With the New Year celebrations approaching, the police have implemented special security measures at Manaveeyam Veedhi. Surveillance through video coverage will be conducted to monitor all individuals entering and exiting the area, with thorough checks by the police for everyone.
Barricades will be erected on both sides of the road, and vehicles driven under the influence of alcohol or driven recklessly will be seized. The police said action will also be taken to suspend the license of the drivers in such cases. After Thiruvananthapuram Corporation implemented the nightlife project on Manaveeyam Veedhi, clashes have become common in Manaveeyam Veedhi. Hence the police have arranged strict checks and security to prevent conflicts during the New Year celebrations.
The people who came to Manaveeyam Veedhi during the Christmas celebrations had caused ruckus. A group of youth also clashed with the police. Policemen including ASI were injured in the conflict.
