Kollam: The 62nd State School Arts Festival is set to kick off today. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the festival, and actress Nikhila Vimal will be the chief guest. 14,000 students will participate in 239 events across high school and higher secondary categories at 24 different venues.
The inaugural ceremonies will take place at the Ashramam ground in Kollam, with Education Minister V. Sivankutty presiding over the function. Ministers KN Balagopal, K Rajan, J. Chinchu Rani, K.B. Ganesh Kumar, and P.A. Mohammed Riyaz are also expected to witness the inaugural function.
The flag will be hoisted by Director of General Education Sri. Shanavas S. IAS today at 9 a.m., followed by an art representation of the tribal community and an art feast of the differently-abled children. Actress Asha Sharath, along with students, will present a welcome song. Recognition will be given to those who contributed to the welcome song, dance, logo, and flagpole.
The Arts Festival is scheduled to conclude on January 8, with actor Mammootty as the chief guest for the closing ceremony. The Leader of Opposition, V. D. Satheesan, will inaugurate the ceremony, which will be presided over by Minister KN Balagopal. Minister V. Sivankutty will honour the top-graded students at various events.
