Kochi: After being unjustly kept in custody for 7 hours by the police for wearing a black outfit in the Nava Kerala Sadas, Kollam Pathanapuram native L Archana, approached the High Court. She filed a petition in the High Court seeking compensation. The hearing for the petition was adjourned to be heard after a week.
The incident happened on the 18th of last month. Archana along with her mother-in-law Ambikadevi had come to meet the Chief Minister while passing through Randalummoodu Junction in Kollam. Unfortunately, Archana was wearing a black outfit. After receiving wrong information that she was standing to protest against the CM, the Kollam Kunnicode Police took her into custody. Archana was detained in custody for seven hours.
The petitioner claims that she is not a member of any political party and demands compensation for the unjust detention. The petitioner stated that it wasn’t fair to arrest her simply because her husband is a politician or because she was wearing a black outfit. Archana claims in the petition that she explained to the police that she came to meet the Chief Minister, not to protest, but they didn’t listen.
