Ohio: In a ceremonial event at the Dayton Temple, the Kerala Hindus of North America presented the sacred ‘Rig Vedam’ to the parents of Indian-American US presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. The event, marked by deep reverence, witnessed Vivek’s father conducting a ceremonial pooja for the ancient text before passing it on to his son.
A viral video captured the spiritual atmosphere as Ramaswamy, in turn, recited the potent Aikyamatya Suktham, embracing the profound wisdom encapsulated within the Rig Vedam. The ceremony, held at the Dayton Temple, was a momentous occasion filled with spirituality, highlighting the rich cultural heritage.
Last November, Ramaswamy publicly shared his ‘Hindu’ faith, emphasising its role in providing him with freedom and motivating his presidential campaign as a moral obligation. The 38-year-old, a native of southwest Ohio, revealed that his parents, who migrated from Kerala, played a pivotal role in shaping his values. His mother was a geriatric psychiatrist, and his father worked as an engineer at General Electric.
