Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has granted special permission for the creation of a cyber division within the Kerala Police force. Responding to the request from the state police chief for a specialized mechanism to combat cyber crimes, the government has approved the establishment of this dedicated division. This initiative aims to enhance the prevention and investigation of cyber-related offenses.
The newly formed cyber division, comprised of two Superintendent of Police (SP) and two Deputy Superintendent of Police (DYSP) officers, will take charge of investigating cyber cases across police stations. Additionally, existing cyber stations will be integrated into this specialized division. Despite the establishment of the cyber division, the government has clarified that no specific financial assistance will be allocated for its operation.
