Thrissur: A case has been registered against five tourists from Angamaly for trespassing in Athirappilly forest. The forest department, invoking the Kerala Forest Act, has taken legal action against five individuals, and the case has been filed by the Deputy Range Officer of Athirappilly Forest Station.
The incident occurred last Friday when a group of tourists ventured more than 10 kilometres into the forest using their vehicle. In response to their unauthorized entry, the forest department is set to impound the vehicle used by the tourists during the trespassing incident.
The forest department has also charged legal action against Srilesh, a temporary watcher hailing from Ayyampuzha, who reportedly assisted the tourists in gaining access to the protected area.
