Thrissur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the Guruvayur temple for the third time. His initial visit took place on January 13, 2008, during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. His second visit was on June 7, 2019, after assuming the role of Prime Minister for the second time. Prime Minister Modi had attended a public meeting held at Sreekrishna School grounds near the temple after having dhrashan in Guruvayur temple.

Guruvayur temple was included in the Prashad scheme ,which was launched in 2015, aimed at enhancing pilgrimage town’s development across the nation. This initiative has paved the way for considerable advancements, focusing on environmentally friendly and sustainable development through the Prashad project.

Guruvayur temple has already received Rs 350 crore under the Prasad project. Various completed projects, including a multi-story parking complex, a tourist facilitation centre, and city-wide CCTV cameras, are part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience.
