Thiruvananthapuram: The upward trend in gold prices continues in the state, witnessing a surge of Rs 80 per sovereign today. The current market rate for one sovereign of gold stands at Rs 46,240. This marks a consecutive increase in gold prices, following a three-day interval.
At the beginning of the new year, gold prices reached an all-time high, touching Rs 47,000 on January 2. Subsequently, the prices fell to Rs 45,000 in the following days. However, in the last two days, gold prices have surged by Rs 280, bringing the current rate to Rs 46,240 per sovereign.
The price of one gram of 22-carat gold is Rs 5,780, while 18-carat gold is priced at Rs 4,775 per gram. Meanwhile, silver prices remain unchanged, with the market rate for common silver standing at Rs 77 per gram and hallmark silver at Rs 103 per gram.
