Kozhikode: Customs officers at Calicut International Airport discovered 250 grams of gold disguised as seven silver-coloured spoons and three L-shaped keys in the checked-in baggage of a passenger. The accused has been arrested, and Customs officials have said that further investigations are underway.
This incident follows a seizure on January 28 at Kochi Airport, where the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) confiscated 848.75 grams of gold in compound form, valued at nearly Rs 44 lakh. The gold was recovered from a passenger arriving from Jeddah to Kochi via Kuwait on Sunday.
