Kochi: Governor Arif Mohammad Khan attended as the chief guest at the ‘Day at Sea 2024’ programme organised by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) in Kochi on the occasion of the Coast Guard Raising Day. The Governor made a trip to the sea on the warship ISGS Samarth, covering a distance of 10 nautical miles in the Arabian Sea.
The event showcased a display featuring various helicopters and fighter jets from the Coast Guard engaging in exercises. A fleet of four ships and two rescue boats participated in the maritime rally. The programme also featured speed racing of small boats and practice demonstrations of helicopter operations.
A mock drill involving the rescue of a ship from hijacked pirates, ICG-led sea rescues, and a show of force were among the highlights. During the event, Coast Guard ships conducted a guard of honour for the Governor.
Addressing the media in a press conference, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the efficiency of the Indian Coast Guard’s operations. He conveyed his enjoyment of the programme, stating that it brought him happiness after a long time. The program was held in Kochi yesterday.
