Ernakulum: The General Secretary of the Animal Legal Force has filed a complaint with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, urging action against the forest department staff involved in taking photos with Thanner Komban’s carcass. The complaint specifically demands that a case be filed against the 14 employees who took pictures with the elephant carcass.
The complaint states that forest department officials took the photos to show off their bravery. It also says they should be punished for encouraging wildlife crime.
Tanneer Komban had been tranquilized twice within a span of 21 days. The elephant, which had ventured into the Mananthavady residential area on Saturday, was being tranquilized and prepared for transport to Bandipur. The wild elephant died after being tranquilized in Mananthavady. The postmortem report claims that the cause of death was a heart attack.
