Thiruvananthapuram: In preparation for the forthcoming Attukal Pongala festival, the Food Safety Department has issued crucial guidelines to food establishments. These guidelines aim to ensure food safety for both devotees and the general public participating in the festival.
According to the directives from the Department of Food Safety, all food establishments operating during the festival period are required to undergo an awareness class conducted by the department. These classes are scheduled for February 13 and necessitate registration by providing details such as name, phone number, and food safety registration number to the Food Safety Department via email.
Furthermore, food establishments should display their food safety licence or registration copy. Additionally, they are instructed to keep records of water quality certificates and health certificates of their employees. Moreover, establishments distributing food, snacks, drinking water, etc., are mandated to pre-register with the Food Safety Department.
Owners of food establishments are encouraged to seek assistance from Akshaya Centres for fulfilling these requirements, as per the guidelines set forth by the Food Safety Department.
