Thrissur: An order has been issued by Thrissur SP Navneet Sharma, restricting the taking of medical leave by District Rural Police officers. SHOs are instructed to investigate and verify the authenticity of leave requests. Medical leave will not be granted without the SHO’s recommendation.
The order comes following a surge in officers taking medical leave collectively, with multiple requests from the same station. SHOs are mandated to conduct immediate inquiries into leave applications.
With Lok Sabha elections nearing, leaves should be minimized. Requests exceeding 10 days must provide a clear rationale. If leave reasons are deemed unsubstantiated, officers may be recalled from leave.
