Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights stated in an order that the Kerala government should ensure students are availing concessions for travel in private buses as per the state government’s regulations. If any violations are found on private buses, the government should take actions to cancel the bus permit and revoke the employees’ licenses.
The order from the Child Rights Commission followed several complaints that students are not receiving concessions on many private bus routes in Thiruvananthapuram.
It is reported that the Commission had received complaints that concessions were regularly denied to students on the Kallambalam – Kilimanoor route. Additionally, complaints were received regarding some private bus employees rudely mistreating school students. Denying students concessions violates their rights.
The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also directed the Kerala government to conduct an inquiry into the order and submit a report within three months.
