Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning predicting a significant rise in temperatures across four districts over the next two days. According to the latest update issued at 1 pm today, Kannur district is expected to experience temperatures reaching 38 degrees Celsius, while Kottayam district may see temperatures soaring to 37 degrees Celsius. Additionally, Alappuzha and Kozhikode districts are forecasted to have temperatures reaching 36 degrees Celsius.

As the temperature climbs, here are some precautions to keep in mind:

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight between 11 am to 3 pm.
  •  Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fresh water, even if not feeling thirsty.
  • Refrain from consuming dehydrating drinks like alcohol, coffee, tea, and carbonated soft drinks.
  • Opt for loose, light-colored cotton clothes for better comfort.
  •  Always wear footwear when venturing outdoors, and consider using an umbrella or hat for added protection.
  • Include plenty of fruits and vegetables in your diet.
  • Be cautious in places prone to fire outbreaks such as markets, buildings, and dumping yards. Conduct fire audits and adhere to safety precautions.
  • Remain vigilant for forest fires, especially if residing near forest areas or visiting as tourists. Strictly follow instructions from the Forest Department.
  • Ensure access to fresh drinking water and adequate air circulation in educational institutions, examination halls, and workplaces.
  • Schedule work hours for labor-intensive tasks and prioritize rest breaks.
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles.
  • Pay heed to official warnings issued by the Meteorological Department and the Disaster Management Authority.
