Thrissur: The Kerala Bar Owners Association has made a new decision not to give monthly payments (bribe) to the Excise Department. The decision was taken at the regional committee meeting of the Federation of Kerala Hotels Association in Thrissur. It was also decided in the meeting that if anyone demands a monthly payment from now on, a complaint will be filed.
The Federation’s State General Secretary, Padmadas, stated that this plan was originally intended to be implemented in 2017. He informed that, owners had earlier complained that the Excise Department was demanding monthly payments from bar owners in Thrissur district. It was also noted that, in addition to the monthly payments for 12 months, payments for three festivals (Onam, Christmas, and New Year) were also being demanded.
