Thiruvananthapuram: As temperature soars across the state, a high-temperature warning has been issued for three districts in Kerala. Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, and Kannur have been placed on yellow alert with forecasts indicating that temperatures may rise by three to four degrees Celsius.

According to data from automated weather monitors installed by the State Disaster Management Department, areas such as Athirappilly in Thrissur district registered temperatures as high as 40.5 degrees Celsius, while locations like Kunnamthanam in Pathanamthitta and Chemperi in Kannur district recorded temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius. In several other districts, temperatures have surpassed 35 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) noted the highest temperature at Kannur airport, reaching to 37.9 degrees Celsius yesterday.

With the heatwave intensifying, authorities have issued warnings urging people to take precautions. The IMD advises avoiding direct sunlight exposure between 11 am and 3 pm and emphasizes the importance of staying hydrated by drinking water regularly, even if not feeling thirsty.
