Thiruvananthapuram: In preparation for the upcoming Attukal Pongala festival, the Railways has decided to operate three special trains on Sunday. Thiruvananthapuram Central Special MEMU will run from Ernakulam and Nagercoil to Thiruvananthapuram, with additional stops permitted on Sunday along the Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam and Nagercoil-Thiruvananthapuram sections.
The Ernakulam-Thruvananthapuram Central Special MEMU is scheduled to depart from Ernakulam at 1:45 a.m. on the 25th. It is expected to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station at 6:30 a.m. Departing from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3:30 pm on the same day, the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Ernakulam MEMU Special will arrive at Ernakulam at 8:15 pm.
Meanwhile, the Nagercoil-Thruvananthapuram Central MEMU Special will start its journey from Nagercoil at 2:15 am, reaching Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3:32 am.
Additionally, in a bid to accommodate the surge in passenger traffic during the festival period, the Mangaluru- Thiruvananthapuram Central train (16348) has been granted stops at Paravur, Varkala, and Kadakkavoor stations. The Gandhidham-Nagercoil Express will also make stops at Paravoor, Kadakkavoor, Chirayinkeezhu, and Kazhakkoottam stations.
