Kannur: The encroachment upon temple land and the erection of a high mast light have sparked outrage among devotees, leading to protests against the CPI(M) in Kannur. The controversy revolves around the use of MLA funds to install a high mast light within the premises of Kunhimangalam Sree Malliyottu Palottu Kavu temple. Allegations have surfaced that the MLA funds allocated for the Kallyassery Constituency are being misappropriated for the installation of this high mast light.
The devotees assert that this action is part of a larger strategy by the CPI(M) to infiltrate the temple and push forward its own agenda. Currently, a high mast light, donated by a devotee, stands within the temple premises. However, a new high mast light, funded by the MLA, is being installed nearby, leading to discontent among the devotees.
Tensions escalated between CPI(M) members and devotees, resulting in altercations at the scene of the incident. Many devotees have gathered to protest against these actions, expressing their opposition to the encroachment.
