Malappuram: A woman has been arrested for killing and burying her newborn baby in Malappuram. Jumailath (29), a native of Ottumpuram, Tanur in Malappuram, was arrested based on a complaint filed by local residents.
According to reports, Jumailath gave birth to the baby at Kozhikode Medical College three days ago. She then returned to her house in Tanur with the baby and later killed the child. The reason behind the murder is not yet clear. Reports suggest that Jumailath had been living separately from her husband for last one year. Police have informed that the body of the newborn will be exhumed today (Thursday), and later it will be shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College Mortuary for post-mortem examination.
