New Delhi: Prasanth Balakrishnan Nair, a Malayali group captain, is set to join the Gaganyaan mission, a highly anticipated endeavor for the nation. Renowned as an excellent fighter pilot, Prasanth not only brings pride to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) but also to the Indian Air Force.
With over 3000 hours of flight experience, Prasanth has piloted a variety of aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Hawk, Dornier, and AN-32. Notably, he was the squadron commander when the first BrahMos missile was test-fired from a Sukhoi, marking a historic global milestone.
Having graduated from the National Defence Academy, Prasanth Nair joined the Indian Air Force in 1999 as a commissioned officer. He continued his education at the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College, securing the top rank. In 1998, he received the Sword of Honour from the Indian Air Force Academy, Hyderabad.
