Malappuram: A Malayali terrorist, Sanaul Islam, hailing from Ullattupara in Malappuram, has been apprehended in Afghanistan. The arrest came as a result of investigations conducted by Afghan intelligence agencies, and Sanaul Islam is currently detained in Kandahar Jail.
Indian authorities have informed that discussions are underway with Afghan agencies regarding further steps related to Sanaul Islam’s arrest. Afghan authorities have also released his photographs. Investigations reveal that Sanaul Islam traveled to Afghanistan through Tajikistan with the intention of joining the terrorist organization IS (Islamic State).
This incident draws parallels with Abdul Rashid Abdullah, who along with 21 individuals from Kasaragod, also journeyed to the same region. It’s noted that terrorists typically enter Afghanistan through Tajikistan, a pattern confirmed by the investigation team in the case of Sanaul Islam.
