Gandhinagar: Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates visited the Statue of Unity in Ekta Nagar, Narmada district, Gujarat on Friday. Gates described the 182-meter-tall monument, dedicated to independent India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, as an ‘incredible engineering feat.’
During his visit, Gates took pictures from the footpath below the world’s tallest statue and explored the exhibition hall. He was impressed by the stunning views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam and inquired about the additional benefits of its construction, such as providing electricity to the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh.
After touring the memorial, Gates wrote in the visitor’s diary, ‘An incredible engineering feat! Very beautiful! A great tribute to Sardar Patel. Thanks for your hospitality!’
Previously, Bill Gates had praised the tribal development, women’s empowerment, and economic progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that PM Modi is always an inspiration.
