Bengaluru: At least ten people were injured in a blast at Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru on Friday. The explosion occurred in the Brookefield area of the city around 1 pm. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirmed that the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device (IED), stating that a man had placed a bag containing the device inside the cafe. A CCTV footage of the incident is also going viral on social media.

According to reports, although the case has not been officially taken up by the NIA, officials from the agency arrived at the scene to gather information. Four individuals are currently in NIA custody in connection with the incident. Meanwhile, the crime branch has divided into eight teams to conduct a detailed investigation.

There are indications that this blast is similar to the cooker bomb blast in Mangalore in 2022. Investigators also suspect the involvement of IS terrorists in the incident.
