Thiruvananthapuram: The suspension of actor Suraj Venjaramoodu’s licence is facing delays as the proceedings of the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) are taking longer than anticipated. The decision to postpone the action follows the issuance of a revised circular by the Transport Commissioner, saying that actions should not be taken solely based on police First Information Report (FIR). Consequently, the complaint against actor Suraj will undergo a separate investigation by an MVD officer, and they will take further action after that inquiry.
The incident was unfolded in July last year, when Sarath, a resident of Mattancherry, sustained injuries after being struck by a car driven by Suraj in Ernakulam. The Palarivattam police had registered a case against Suraj after the incident. Subsequently, upon transferring the case to the MVD, notices were issued to Suraj three times, yet he failed to respond.
