Kothamangalam: In another tragic incident, an elderly woman was killed in a wild elephant attack in Neriamangalam, Idukki district. Following this, locals in Kothamangalam staged a protest with the woman’s body, citing frequent wild animal attacks. The protestors demanded protection from such incidents. They urged the Kerala State Minister for Forests to visit the area in person and provide assurance of protection from future wild animal attacks.
The woman, identified as Indira (70) from Kanjiraveli, was attacked this morning while at her arrowroot farm. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
The protestors later brought the woman’s body back from the hospital and staged a road-blocking protest. Police intervened and dispersed the protestors.
