Palakkad: The preliminary conclusion regarding the death of the drug peddling accused in excise custody in Palakkad has been released. It suggests that no mystery surrounds the death of Shojo John, who was found hanged in the excise lockup on Thursday. The assessment is based on the examination of CCTV footage. The investigation is currently being conducted under the leadership of the District Crime Branch DYSP, Abdul Salam.

CCTV footage will be collected as evidence with the assistance of Keltron officials. During the inquest, officials clarified that nothing significant was found except for bruising caused by a tightened dhoti on the body. The crime branch examined the CCTV footage from the moment the suspect was brought to the excise office.

Shojo John, a native of Idukki, was arrested by the Excise Department for possession of hashish oil on Wednesday. He was found dead inside the excise lockup on Thursday morning. Two excise officers were suspended after the incident sparked controversy. Their suspension followed findings of negligence and failure on the part of the officials.
