New York: Nita Ambani, philanthropist and wife of Mukesh Ambani has been named to the board of the largest U.S. art museum after her tremendous support for exhibitions at the New York City institution.
Ambani’s backing “has had an enormous impact on the museum’s ability to study and display art from every corner of the world,” Daniel Brodsky, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s chairman, said on Tuesday in a statement.
Nita Ambani has been promoting Indian art and culture around the world for a long time along with sports and development programs inside the country as the head of the conglomerate’s foundation. Reliance Foundation has sponsored key cultural events such as The Elephanta Festival, and Abbaji, the annual concert of master musician Ustad Zakir Hussain, in a bid to recognise the cultural legends of India and ensure their relevance to a younger generation.
The Met has not only supported series of exhibitions but also presentations such as Gate of the Lord: The Tradition of Krishna Paintings at the Art Institute of Chicago.
