Rome: Italy has seen a surge in the number of deaths by 889 in the last 24 hours due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Angelo Borrelli, head of Italy’s National Civil Protection Agency said on Saturday, ” (Over the past 24 hours) 889 people have died. (Overall) 12,384 people have recovered. Compared with yesterday, the number of recoveries increased by 1,434,” Borrelli said.
Italy confirmed 3,651 new cases of COVID-19 and the number of active cases are 70,065.
Italy is one of the worst coronavirus hit countries, which originated in China.
