Baghdad: The US-led military coalition in Iraq has destroyed three Islamic State camps said the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) in a statement.
“In coordination with the Government of Iraq, Coalition aircraft destroyed three ISIS camps in Wadi al-Shai, Iraq, June 19,” the press release, which was published on Saturday evening, read.
“Blowing up ISIS hideouts in bucolic locations ultimately results in security in cities and villages. Each Coalition precision airstrike is conducted at the request of the Government of Iraq to help achieve a permanent defeat of Daesh,” spokesman Col. Myles. B. Caggins III said.
An F-15E Eagle fighter jet carried out the strikes, which killed an estimated five ISIS fighters, Caggins told Stars and Stripes via text message. Iraqi forces were still conducting an assessment of the damage, he said.
