Washington: A top American Congressman said that India is a testament to the success of economic freedom. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India surpassed the UK and France in terms of gross domestic product.
Congressman Joe Wilson was speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives as he greeted India on the occasion of its 74th Independence Day.
“With the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past year India has surpassed the United Kingdom and France in gross domestic product,” Joe Wilson said.
“India’s evolution from socialism to a free market economy reducing poverty is a testament to the success of economic freedom,” Wilson said on Friday.
The US renamed its oldest and largest military command- the Pacific Command- to Indo-Pacific Command, in 2018 in a largely symbolic move to signal India’s importance to the US military.
