Philadelphia: A 21-year-old Indian-origin youth was shot dead in Philadelphia, US, on Sunday. According to media reports, the deceased, Jude Chacko, was shot dead by unknown muggers on his way home from his part-time job.
Jude was the son of immigrant parents from Kollam district of Kerala, India, who have been residing in the States for more than three decades. Though the circumstances surrounding the student’s death are unclear, investigators suspect he was slain by two assailants during a heist. His funeral is expected to take place at Philadelphia’s Malankara Catholic Church on Saturday.
This is not the first time that a person of Indian descent has been attacked by assailant. Earlier in April, a 24-year-old Saiesh Veera from Andhra Pradesh was shot dead at a gas station.
Before that, in January, 23-year-old Devsish Nandepu and his friend were robbed, and after that, he shot both of them at Princeton Park in Chicago.
