Kuala Lumpur: A Malaysian 11-year-old girl was hospitalised after showing serious side effects from eating chocolate biscuits which was laced with cannabis made by her father. The victim was a native of Ipoh, Malaysia.
The victim was admitted to the hospital due to dizziness, nausea, and shortness of breath. Perak Police Chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that the police received the report on Monday from a medical assistant working at the hospital.
The police confirmed that the child was taken to the hospital by her 38-year-old father and that she was in stable condition. They added that, prioritising the health of the child, a urine test of the girl could not be done.
The police have also confirmed that the 38-year-old father was arrested and subjected to a urine test. The suspect’s test results came back positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is a psychoactive component in the cannabis plant. There is a total of 113 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant.
The suspect was remanded in jail until June 3, and further investigation in the matter is progressing.
