Amsterdam: The Netherlands anti-terrorism agency, the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV), said on Tuesday that the threat of possible terrorist attacks in the Netherlands has increased in the past few months.
The NCTV added that there were signs of increasing jihadist groups plotting their attacks in Europe, including the Netherlands. The overall threat level on a scale of five has remained at three for some time now, indicating a possible attack.
Especially after Dutch leader Edwin Wagensveld tore apart a Quran in public, Islamic State groups have diverted their attention to the Netherlands. Pro-Islamic State channels have also gone on social media to attack several countries, including the Netherlands and Sweden.
