Islamabad: A drug smuggling network, purportedly overseen by high-ranking officials within the Lahore Police, has been implicated in trafficking narcotics into India via drone operations. Among those alleged to be at the helm is Mahsar Iqbal, who holds the position of head of the anti-narcotics unit within Lahore police, as stated by Pakistani law enforcement authorities.

Operating along the Kasur route, this syndicate is accused of orchestrating the smuggling of considerable drug quantities from Pakistan into India with the use of drones. Notably, Mahsar Iqbal and his associates are reported to have successfully transported 30 kg of heroin. In recognition of these activities, it’s alleged that Iqbal received rewards originating from Dubai. Further indications of his illicit gains manifest in his possession of opulent villas and high-end automobiles situated within the prestigious Defence Housing Authority of Lahore. Moreover, sources suggest that he maintains an assortment of firearms procured from various countries.

Surprisingly, Lahore’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Imran Kishore, disclosed that apprehending Mahsar Iqbal has proven challenging, as he has secured anticipatory bail. Kishore also revealed that this police officer, entrusted with upholding the law, has amassed substantial profits in the realm of crores of rupees through his alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
