Paris: Major fire engulfed in the historical cathedral of Notre-Dame in Paris, leaving the spire and roof destroyed. The fire broke out on Monday evening. The fire at the roof of the cathedral destroyed stained glass windows and the wooden inner parts and then,the spire collapsed.
Around five hundred firefighters tried to prevent the fire from spreading. Attempts of firefighters are still underway to contain the blaze. The reason of the incident is not yet known. French President Emmanuel Macron described the shocking incident as a “terrible tragedy”.
The cathedral has a history of 850 years. More than 13 million visitors reach every year to see the historic church.
