Mexico city: Nine people died and more than 50 were injured when the roof of the church collapsed during a congregational prayer. The roof of a church in southern Mexico collapsed during Sunday Mass. Approximately 30 parishioners are believed to have been trapped beneath the debris when the roof collapsed. Tamaulipas state police reported that there were approximately 100 people inside the church at the time of the incident.
Building collapses are a frequent occurrence in Mexico, particularly during earthquakes. However, the National Seismological Service has reported that there were no earthquakes of sufficient magnitude to cause damage at the time of this church collapse. he footage of the church collapsing has been widely circulated on social media.
The Red Cross has stated that the death toll has the potential to increase, and local media has reported that at least 20 individuals remain trapped in the rubble.
