Islamabad: At least 10 terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pakistan, as reported by Pakistan News Agency. The news agency, citing the military media wing, reported that the encounter took place in the Pezu area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the terrorists were killed in an operation conducted based on a tip-off from the intelligence agency regarding the presence of terrorists.
“These terrorists were actively involved in attacks and terrorist activities against security forces, as well as in looting and killing innocent civilians,” the report said. After the operation, security forces recovered arms, ammunition, and explosives from the terrorists.
Since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ended a ceasefire in November of last year, assassinations and terrorist attacks have been on the rise in Pakistan. Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, alleged that 14 out of the 24 suicide attacks this year were carried out by Afghan nationals. Pakistani authorities have accused Afghan militants of operating indiscriminately on Pakistani soil. The administration recently issued an order for the 1.73 million Afghans and all illegal immigrants to leave the country immediately.
