Herat : Following a previous earthquake that resulted in the loss of thousands of lives, another powerful earthquake, measuring 6.3 in magnitude, struck western Afghanistan. The United States Geological Survey reported no casualties as of the earthquake that occurred at 6:11 am today (Oct 11). Authorities indicated that the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a depth of 10 km.
More than 2,000 people have died and extensive damage has been caused by an earthquake in Afghanistan’s Herat province on Saturday. The Ministry of Disaster Management said that the rescue operation in the area is still going on and the exact number of people who have lost their lives is not yet available.
